Professional Recognition and Accreditation

The following organizations have recognized the Management Development Centre, UOIT as a training partner and therefore courses taken may qualify for professional development units (pdu's).

CFRE


The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) is the self-regulatory body for insurance brokers in Ontario. Established in October 1981, RIBO regulates the licensing, professional competence, ethical conduct, and insurance related financial obligations of all independent general insurance brokers in the province.

MDC has recently been recognized as an accredited training provider for the Registers Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) Brokers continuing education program.

All members who complete UOIT professional courses under the following certificate programs will receive a special certificate which qualifies them for continuing education credits. 

Please contact the MDC for information on which courses count as continuing education credits.

The Canadian Institute of Management offers the professional designations "Certified in Management" (C.I.M.),"Professional Manager" (P.Mgr) and "Chartered Manager" (C.Mgr.). It also offers its educational certificates"Certificate in Management and Administration" (CIMA) and "Certificate in Supervisory Management"(CSM)offers certificate learning programs that will equip individuals opportunities to develop and enhance their management skills.

The educational program is intended to provide management personnel with a practical knowledge base in various management functions. It consists of the following courses. They may be taken together as a complete Certificate in Management and Administration program or individually to fill gaps in your previous training. Graduates of our CIMA program will also be eligible to apply for the professional designation "Certified in Management" (C.I.M.)
MDC professional programs, conferences and seminars are recognize by CIM as a Professional Development partner and therefore will award professional development units (pdu's) to accredited members.

The AORS Certification Board has approved the UOIT Master's Certificate in Public Sector/Municipal Management program as equivalent to the AORS - Public Works Leadership Development Program as follows: 

  • Local Government (CRS):  Equivalent

  • Leadership (CRS):  Equivalent

  • Customer Service (CRS):  Not Equivalent

  • Financial Management (CRS - I):  Equivalent

  • Talent Management (CRS-I):  Not Equivalent 

  • Continuous Improvement (CRS-S):  Equivalent

  • Communications (CRS-S):  Not Equivalent

  • Process Management (CRS-S):  Equivalent

The Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential was first awarded in 1981.  In June 2013, the CFRE became the first globally recognized credential for fundraising professionals.

Since 2001, CFRE International has existed as an independent nonprofit organization.  They are dedicated to setting standards in philanthropy through a valid and reliable certification process for philanthropic fundraising professionals

MDC is an Approved Credit Provider for all five (5) of the courses in the Not-for-Profit Management Certificate Program.
